Lata Chettri-Kennedy began her herbal studies as a young teenager after experiencing firsthand, the healing power of our plant allies. She remains an avid herbal enthusiast and has been practicing Herbalism in the East Village of Manhattan for three decades. In 1993, she established Flower Power Herbs and Roots, an herbal apothecary, which is the herbal hub for NYC.
Lata works with various schools and community groups, and is also very active in supporting herbal relief work, from street medics at Occupy, the water protectors everywhere, to partnering with larger efforts wherever needed.
Lata is also a practicing astrologer, artist and musician. Although she presently has a beautiful garden in the Catskills, She is looking forward to becoming a permaculture farmer in the near future.
Lata is a visiting faculty member of Arborvitae School of Traditional Herbalism and also is an educator for Herb Pharm.
Lata has appeared in various publications including the New York Times, NY magazine, and on TV shows including ABC, NBC, Fox News, MTV, Lifetime as well as many foreign publications, television and numerous Internet sites such as Insider.com.
Lata lives with her multispecies family in Manhattan, NY and tries to spend as much time as possible in the Catskills.
